A Unique Approach to Problem Solving

We love the fuzzy front-end of technology research – problems that don’t yet have solutions. We have refined an effective process to develop potential solution concepts and build and test prototypes that can be quickly evaluated. Then we can iterate the prototype to incrementally improve the design or make big changes in a different direction. Our process begins with understanding the problem and identifying potential solution concepts. We then build and test prototypes of those concepts, evaluating them against criteria such as feasibility, performance, usability, and alignment with the product requirements. Based on those evaluations, we can iterate on the design or pursue a different concept altogether. By taking an agile approach to technology research, we focus on finding the best solution, not just any solution.

Product Design

From Concept Through Prototype Manufacturing

At Root3 Labs, we specialize in developing prototypes for new products. Whether you have a rough sketch on a napkin or detailed product requirements, we can help you bring your concept to life. Using our Root3 Product Development Process, we take a risk-mitigating approach that puts prototypes through testing and validation early on, well before the design for manufacturing phase. We define technical specifications, create concept sketches, design and fabricate bench top prototypes, and test and validate the design. Once this process is complete, we will work with you to refine the design and make sure it is ready for prototype manufacturing. In addition, we provide guidance on such issues as prototyping materials, cadaver testing, Verification & Validation, and regulatory compliance.
